Buy Rogue Technique Plates
Coaches and beginners who buy Rogue Technique Plates get full-size, 450mm plates at very light weights. They are made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic, so a pair of 5LB plates still sets the bar at the same height as a pair of 45LB bumpers. That lets new lifters and rehabbing athletes learn the starting positions for the clean, snatch and deadlift with correct bar height before moving to heavier bumpers.
All pairs are brand-new and ship free to the 48 contiguous states and Washington, DC. Choose 5LB, 10LB, 2.5KG or 5KG pairs.

Why Bar Height Matters for Beginners
Olympic lifts and deadlifts start with the bar about 8.86 inches (225mm) off the floor, which is the height set by a 450mm plate. If a beginner practices with small iron plates, the bar starts much lower and the lifter learns a different, often worse, starting position. Technique plates keep the bar at full height while keeping the load light enough to focus on positions, timing and balance.
- Correct starting height at very light loads
- Ideal for teaching groups, youth athletes and new members
- Useful for rehab and returning-to-training phases
Using Technique Plates Safely
Rogue states that Technique Plates should be used indoors and dropped only on a proper training platform or rubber matting. They are a teaching tool, not a replacement for rubber bumpers under heavy loads. Once a lifter is ready to progress, step up to full-size rubber bumpers such as the Rogue Echo Bumper Plates V2 or, for kilogram programs, the Rogue HG 2.0 KG Bumper Plates.
LB or KG Pairs?
Choose LB pairs if your gym programs in pounds and KG pairs if you coach weightlifting in kilograms. Color coding makes it easy to keep them straight: the lighter 5LB and 2.5KG pairs are red, and the 10LB and 5KG pairs are white. Many coaches keep both sizes so lifters can add a small amount of weight while staying on technique plates.
